CRA Extends Tax Day 2020

What You Need To Know

On March 18th, 2020 the Canada Revenue Agency announced that they have extended the deadline for the filing and paying of an entity’s federal income tax. There will be no interest or penalties applied during this extended time period, and the CRA will not begin new GST/HSTs or hold audits for small to medium businesses until after April.

Later that same day, Revenu Québec announced their plan to extend the provincial tax deadlines as well.

Federal Tax Updates 

New Filling Date

Individuals - June 1st

Self-employed Individuals - June 15th (this date was not extended)

Businesses - June 1st

New Payment Date 

(also includes installment plans)

Individuals - September 1st

Self-employed Individuals - September 1st
